Big big thx to forum members 4 help with my 3.4 swap

Hi all

I'm about to finish my 3.4 swap finally
Did it over last 4 months or so
It seats on stock mounts(no dropping the engine)
Used stock 996 manifolds too
It fits right in, seriously right in. Lol
All I have left is to reprogram DME and change ignition coils (yep, misfire on 4cylinders due to hairline cracks) and body/interior work
Huge thanks to INSITE and his posts,Jaay's post, Todd ,forum itself and the book(101projects...)
I didn't think I could pull it of( no expierience with cars)

Happy speeding

I'm assuming this is the 3.4L 996 Carrera motor? I wish I had the time/money or I would have done this too :D

Post some videos once you have it all under raps!! :D

Stroked & Blown 07-19-2012 10:43 AM

Can you expand on how you made it fit with the 996 manifolds?

Kenny Boxster 07-19-2012 10:43 AM

Very inspiring. Best of luck to you!

For now just old carpet cover
It's not a perfect fit tho
Got to finish some more important stuff first

Stroked & Blown 07-24-2012 02:10 PM

Can you close the top properly with the Cayman S cover on?

Your rear window will probably melt if you don't get some insulation between it and the cover.

Ok
I'm a contractor(custom kitchen and bath specialist)
There was a guy I was working for and he had this car siting for 2 years
He said it doesn't run because of the key related issues
After closer inspection I knew its BS(blown engine etc)
I offered him to give me this car as part of the payment
Explained him that cost of repair for him would be easy in 20k+ range as he did all the previous repairs thu stealership
He didn't took good care of it
It looked like car abonded on lost highway
You could see springs in the seats
That's the story behind it

I second that. Maybe some pics of you taking it to the track and killing vettes on the straights AND in the corners!

Did you do any suspension mods to handle the new horsepower?
