Panamera / Cayenne Recall

i know it's not the boxster but, it appears porsche has issued a recall for the 2011 and 2012 panamera and cayenne turbo and turbo s because of a ... casting problem.

Worldwide there have been 37 failures of the turbine wheels, including three in the U.S. One fire in a car sold in the U.S. was reported in late June.

I guess if someone died from IMS failure, we'd get a recall too.

Any volunteers for the greater good?

no deaths were reported. but if the engine caught fire on the side of the road, and people posted videos of it on youtube, you can bet there'd be something done.

Recalls are mostly about safety, not reliability. That means that engines that can catch fire (and create a safely hazard) are recalled but those that simply stop working are not (no real safety issue).

But many wallets have died due to IMS failure

Which is why we need a volunteer to steer their car out of control precisely the moment their engine fails, die in some kind of horrific accident, and get it highly publicized.
