Retrofit override facility to a Tiptronic box?

Is it possible to retrofit the facility to temporally override the Tipronic box when not in manual?

The newer Tip boxes have it, but mine does not. And it would be very handy.

Thanks, Andrew.

Anybody? Or is this just a daft question....

Which facility???
"Temporally"? Time travel is not possible... yet. I'm working on that. I guess you meant "temporarily".

Sorry, I honestly have no idea what it is that you are trying to say, but it is funny! :)
Try a Google search...just use the correct terms, lol!

Lol.!! Yes temporarily.... The tip boxes after mine have the facility to change gear manually without having to select manual. It then reverts to auto again after a few seconds.

Hope that helps.... ;-)

I think that is a software change in the Tip's computer. Not sure if yours can be updated, but it would take a PSTII or PIWIS unit to do it if can be done.

Are you talking about the shift buttons on the steering wheel? Yes you can shift manually with the buttons in the auto mode (will go into the manual mode w/o slapping the stick into manual) and after 10 sec. the Tiptronic will revert back to the auto mode. Are you asking how to give your '99 this option?

Andrew McD 07-09-2012 02:32 AM

That's exactly what I'm asking... sorry I was trying to be as clear as I could.

:-)
