Tire Balancing Beads
I'm hearing great things about these. Anyone here try them? Comparison to road force balancing?
|
I ran beads (Equal) in my offroad mud tires on my Land Rover for a while. I absolutely hated it. It is for 100psi truck tires not for light truck or passenger tires. I would not say it is better than nothing at all. I would prefer nothing over Equal... road force balancing is best of all.

Interesting. The good things I'm hearing are coming from Harley guys. They are telling me they are getting a better balance initially and that they compensate for tire wear because they aren't fixed. They also like them because they eliminate unsightly weights on the rims.
What was it you didn't like about them? |
When you hit a slight bump at speed... like the joint on a bridge, the tire will bounce like crazy for a few hundred yards before settling back down again. Very annoying and it can be dangerous as well.
I really wanted the Equal to work, loved the concept of continuous balancing but the reality is not as advertised for passenger car and light truck tires. 10 ply truck tires with 100psi it is great but in a Porsche, not for all the tea in china. |
Resurrecting an old thread to see if there are any new thoughts/opinions/experiences

I'm running them in my bike 300mm tire
Love it |
