Help! Steering Wheel Airbag
Last week my horn became possessed and started randomly beeping as I was driving (embarrassing):o .
So, I figured out that I need to replace/repair the bushings behind the airbag cover.....simple enough. PROBLEM: I cannot get the two bolts (30 Torx) behind the wheel to budge! My son who is much stronger than I am even tried to loosen them and no luck.... Any ideas.....tips.....tricks? Thanks guys |
I hate to suggest this and I truly hope I don't offend you, but you are turning the screw counter-clockwise from the perspective of the screw head, right? Cuz that would be clockwise from the perspective of the guy sitting in the seat. Like I said, I don't mean to insult your abilities, but that would be an easy mistake to make.
The fix, once you get the wheel off, is upgrading to a three-spoke wheel. Those four-spokers are notorious for sagging on to the horn switch. |
Mark...no offense taken. I did make sure I was turning it correctly.
And, I think you are right about the three-spoke wheel. |
I had a similar problem with mine. I used a torx bit with a socket wrench and an extension for leverage.
Be careful not to strip/break the bolts, as they're pretty small. |
