Windows and locks

First time owner fixing some thing on the 97 I bought overthe weekend.

Passenger window won't go down but motor moves, grinding sound and the glass sort of wobbles but goes neither up or down. Found some bits of white plastic in the bottom of the inside of the door Ordered a regulator, hope that is the problem

Also, hit the door lock button and there is a loud shutter from the same door. Not sure the door locked or not.

Might/might not relate but the mechanism that electrically raises and lowers the top is partially broken and in a bag in the trunk. Top idiot light is on constantly on the dash.
Could any of this relate to a top sensor failing or not making a proper connection due to the mechanism not being present?

Thanks.

Jb
