Convertible top not seating right

My top isn't seating quite right. If I stop it part way closed, and seat the cord, it goes in fine, but if I close it all the way with doing so, it pops out of the channel. Is there an adjustment for this?

This is a common 987 problem. I had my "fixed" twice under warranty. There is an elastic piece that stretches which is supposed to pull the top into the groove. It needs to be either sewn tighter, or have new elastic sewn in.

While waiting for my fix, I would close the top most of the way, "tuck in" the top, and finish closing. On the driver's side this can be done (carefully) by reaching back while seated. Obviously the passenger side is a bit more difficult to reach!

1) Did this problem just recently start?

2) Have you done anything to the top lately?

Just got the car a couple weeks ago, so don't know how long it's been that way. Looks like it's stretched, will have to see what I can to to fix.

I had this problem on my 2007. Read Stephen Wilson's post.

I also brought my Porsche in under warranty 3 times. The fix didn't last. Now that I am out of warranty, and paid $400 to the dealer, it seems fixed (at least it has been ok for the past 6 months).

This happened to me as well. Check out this page

It's a simple job and took me less than a 1/2 hour.

I solved this issue easily by repositioning the elastic strap two holes shorter on my 2008 phase 1 Boxster.
1) open top to about 70 CEntimeter from windscreen
2) undo 2 velcro straps to allow access between iner liner and external top
3) use short screwdriver with fitting torx bit to release elastic strap fixed on wishbone.
4) fix strap back two wholes shorter
5) reposition not to tight two velcro's
6) repeat on other side if needed
Good luck

Also check the leaf spring to ensure that it is sitting over the top of the slider providing tension on it. #21 in this pic.

My 2002 does the same thing.Right side only. Both old and new top had the same problem. Fortunately I have long arms and reach across to tuck it in. If I had shorter arms I would probably fix it.

I have repaired many of these
