Fuel Filler
 

Everytime I fill up the pump nozzle lever clicks off from its lock position like it sensing tank is full already, even i hold the lever it clicks off every 5 secs. or so, tried other station but still doing it. I have to squeez the lever repeatedly until tank is full. Anyone having this problem? :confused:

Do a search, this is a common problem on the early cars. Possible problems with the flap in the fillter neck or tank.

Mine does this too. I was told that it was the exhaust fume outlet hose near the flap. Never looked further into it. I have found that if I don't insert the nozzle all the way(about 3/4 of the way in instead), it works like it should.

I'll get around to fixing it eventually, but its not a priority.

Tried inserting the nozzle not all the away and I even pulled back the rubber sleeve still pump lever pops out, I think there is a back pressure in the tank that the nozzle thinks its full already. I'll check that filler flap too.. :)

I had the same problem till I installed the nozzel into the filler with the bottom of the handle touching the fender below the "opening". It seems the angle of the nozzel may be a bit to "sharp" and by lowering the handle reduces this "angle" allowing me to fill the tank. It does shut off when it's full with no fuel overflowing. This works for me.

This has happened to me a few times. Turning the fuel pump upside down while filling always fixes the problem.

You are experiencing the back pressure shut off from the fuel pump. This is designed into the pumps to prevent overspill.

All you have to do (once the handle pops the first time) is pull the nozzle back to the fuel funnel entry point where you are "just keeping" the flap open. Fill by hand slowly until the fuel is seen at the flap. Now your tank is full.
