IMS Relief!/Cold start question

Immediately after purchase, I took my Boxster S directly to have the IMS done...when they pulled the bearing, it was very loose in its housing and when they pulled it apart, the bearings inside were scored and no longer spherical. They said it was one of the worst they've seen and it was ready to go immediately! Certainly makes me not regret the expense! I have a question, though...when I start the car in the morning, I'm very careful with not revving it and keep it under 2k RPM until the temp gauge hits 180...would you all recommend babying it like this until it reaches the operating temp, or is it overkill?

keep it under 4k with no full throttle till its past 180 deg.

I shift at 3K with less than 3/4 throttle until 180.

Where did you have it done?

How can you even get out of the driveway under 2000 RPM?

I kid, I kid.

Thanks for the advice, I'll bump the RPM's up a little...I just love how it sings between 3-4k! I had the work done at Poudre Motorsports in Ft Collins, very pleased with their work. I'm like a new father with this car and they're very patient!

My car was the first IMS they replaced. They're using my bearing puller :)

Thats cool! They're now using my IMS bearing as show and tell, they have a blown one, one with little wear and now mine!
