74,472 miles so far here is what went wrong

I always see engine blowns, oil leaks and the gamut of things that go wrong in the car. In order to establish a baseline of the maintenance of the car as well as the durability of its components. Here is mine during the life of the car up to now:
1- Winter tires one additional set(4)
2- Regular tires 5 tires so far.
3- Brakes once.
4- Alternator once.
5- Battery-2
6- Interior- leather had to be replaced.
7- Clutch at 30,000 miles.

The aforementioned are the out of pocket items I have had to replace so far. Is a daily driver that I have used since Dec of 2004 every day. In all seasons and alll weather. I love the car and plan keeping for the foreseeable future.:)

The drivers seat ripped on the side and the passenger's seat disintegrated on the sitting part of the seat. I would say my fault since I really never took good care of it. Passenger seat the leather felt very hard and brittle could have been since I drive from the spring on to october with the top down and I leave parked in the same manner. The replacement I changed the grey original color to black which looks a thousand better than the original one. The finishing touched was the embroidery of the logos which look terrific.

I hope you meant five sets of tires. I am on my fifth set of rear's at 39,000 with three sets of fronts to go along with it.

So far 9 tires but I have to replace the rear tires of the 18" summer Michelin Pilots that would make it 4 rears altogether and 5 fronts. Winter tires I replaced all 4 in one shot went with Continental.

My advice has always been never own a car between 80,000 to 120,000 miles since that is when it will need lots of new parts.

I only ever buy cars that have just tipped the 100k mark!

But I don't mind a few repairs :)

Interesting. Here's mine. Given all the horror stories I've heard about reliability, I feel that my car has been pretty reliable so far. Most of the stuff that broke was wear and tear related and/or occured during the warranty period , thankfully, ( '04S with 60k):

1 battery
1 horn (but replaced both at same time since cheap)
2 RMS seals (one at 17k the other at 29k) , both under warranty
1 front control arm bushing
1 engine mount
1 engine fan temperature sensor
1 flywheel , clutch release lever and ball pin (42k) under warranty
1 right axle bellow (42k)
1 MAF sensor (50k)
2 sets of rear tires
1 set of front tires

Still on original clutch and brakes, but will be doing front brakes this spring.
