Coolant Q, low then mid-level
Noticed the other day that my coolant was a bit low.
When I got home and checked again -- it was mid-level right about where the MAX words (not line) is. This evening before heading home from work -- I checked again and it was low, just below the low mark. Let it warm up -- maybe 5 min, but it never rose. So I ran out of patience, jumped in and drove home. Once again it was at the mid-level point. I opened the pressure relief valve, I could hear a little gurgling, but nothing serious. I opened the coolant cap (carefully and with a rag), I could see wisps of steam, but not a lot. this was while car was running. No signs of coolant in oil or vis-versa. No CEL, misfires, coolant light. Everything is running fine -- temps were fine. Nothing out of the ordinary. I have no evidence of leaks anywhere -- but I haven't pulled any of the engine trays and looked around. thoughts? |
The coolant level goes up and down slightly, up when its hot and down when its cold. Just keep an eye on it when its cold and if the level drops significantly over time. then start looking for a leak.

have read check trunk under carpet. the tank in trunk develops leaks and needs replaced.

Quote:
Pull a vacuum on the cooling system while the car is cold, see if the level changes due to air coming out. |
