I have sold a few things on craigslist with success. Mostly household items and appliances, wood stove etc. Actually got good prices for the items. Never sold a car there, but I would absolutely list it on there as it's where I do most of my car shopping these days.
One word of caution: Last time I listed something I received a scammer e-mail. I responded to the person through email and after getting their response it was clear it was a scam. About a week later my e-mail account was hacked. I had a lame 6 character password and once they had my valid email address it took them no time to hack my account and spam everyone in my contact list. Now I have a much more complicated password. The bogus response to my ad came within about 15 minutes of when I posted it.

I think Craigslist can be a mixed bag. I listed a SUV on Craigslist 2 yeas ago and ended up with 3-4 offers to buy the car sight unseen from supposed overseas US military members if I would work with their family or 'agent' to arrange financing and pickup. Definitely a scam of some kind since there were plenty of spelling and other errors. I had included a note for local sale only, but it didn't seem to matter.
On the bright side, the first local buyer that saw it bought it for full price.
Good luck with the sale, or figuring out a way to keep it!

Naw wrong guy, I never liked their small print (9 more at "regular club prices") besides, I already told you I have a real deal tough guy in my family not a pretend one, I know what the dealio is. I'm sure some of his pals were in on the Somalian rescue, he used to run out of Italy to there...

Craigslist is a good place to find bargains but you have to be smart, lots of scammers on free ad sites.
Expect a lot of interested calls, no shows, and low ball offers if you are selling.

Many years ago (pre CL) when selling a car I had a good old boy from Kentucky offer cash and some of his best hunting dogs for it, he was dead serious. And no it wasn't old Sam in the avatar although he is indeed a heckuva birder.

I think you mentioned in another thread that you worked as a mechanic for many years.
I would include that in the title or description "professional mechanic owned".
My indy is restoring an old Carrera. I'd buy with a lot more confidence from a mechanic than a non-enthusiast.
p.s.
I posted an ad online for old car. I had a phone call within 45 seconds of hitting the send button. The guy was already trying to low ball me. LOL
