The new Boxster S $100k challenge
I think we are all excited about the new Boxster and Boxster S which Porsche just unveiled.
I personally feel a heightened sense of pride as we are no longer the owners of a "Poor man's Porsche". I am proud to report that with only a few clicks on the "Build your own Porsche" tool I was able to configure a Boxster S for $100,185. That's what I call achievement. This was so far a territory that was only reserved for the "big" Porsches, but I am sure we can all now tell our friends that also a Boxster is now f****ing expensive. Now our "little car" has broken through the barrier which was so far reserved for millionaires' exclusive toys - yeah baby! So I challenge you all to go onto the "Build your own (damn expensive) Porsche" site and configure your own Boxster S for more than $100k Post your configurations here (I start) and may the most expensive "poor man's Porsche" win. But let's not forget that it's too easy to check every option. You need to showcase your sense of style and taste. So just select what you really would select if you were Bill Gates and are building your new Boxster. Believe me, you can do it in less than 5 minutes! Enjoy http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1326516177.jpg |
You have adaptive sport seat plus listed twice??????????
I doubt I could ever get a Boxster over $100K because I'd never buy PDK (I just really like rowing gears, and I don't ever want a reason for my wife to be able to drive the Porsches) or any fancy seat options. Park Assist? Are your kidding me? Sirus radio? I listen to the engine and wind. PCCB's? That would be a tough call. You don't really save much on unsprung weight (maybe 7 pounds total) and I'm not Patrick Long. The BIG reds are excellent. Plus, I don't like the yellow calipers. The only kicker would be less brake dust/dirt. That would be reason enough to tip me over the edge. "Paint To Sample", about a $5K option would be very tempting too. Fun excercise. I remember when I ordered my 2006 back in September of 2005. I worked very hard to keep it under $70K. With a 65 page order guide, it was not easy to do. talk about a "fat kid in a candy shop". |
i thought i could do it.. only up to 97k and change.
http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1326545726.jpg **just realized i was doing the 2012 instead of "The New Boxster S" - tried with the new one only got that one up to $88k |
I'll sell you the Dangermobile for a $100k ! :)
|
Pssssh, that's nothing. I got to 102,550 and that's without PDK.

Wow, a $100,000 car that will be worth $40,000 in five years. And is practically the same as a car you can buy used that was built 6 years ago. What a smart purchase. =(

HaHa OK What is it that makes you wish for me to get ripped off on my next car or have it turn out to be a POS? You keep this up Mr. Danger and I'll buy the modena just to piss you off. |
I like the car but don't care if it's $80,000 or $100,000 expensive. Everybody knows the Boxster is no second-class car. For me, unlike my other vehicele purchases, the Boxster is a "toy" and will likely never rise to a "need to be new" purchase. I'll likely have a 100K box when it costs $50,000. But I applaud anyone ordering a new one.

Just to change the subject for a second, on the flip side I just built one basically equivalent to my 2000 'S' that cost $53,323 including about $2500 in options only. It was purchased in 1999, I guess if we want to call that a poor Porsche we can, seems like a lot of money back then. I built the following and it is only ~$12k more, I don't know how much inflation or income increase there has been in that time in general, but I don't think that is a large increase. Maybe we are still in poor mans Porsche territory :). One could have easily created a 80k Boxster with options back then I would think.
Oh and this is the first picture of the car I like yet!! Actually doesn't look so bad, I'll take one. http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1326562437.jpg http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1326562502.jpg |

I'm in the same boat as ketsa (Finland). The base Boxster here in Australia is over $US118,000 and the S is about $US150,000.
Stop moaning - you Yanks don't realise how envious we are...... didn't you know all Aussies were millionair owners ??? |
At those prices you could buy it here and ship it home! Heck buy two and sell the other for a profit.
