Washer Fluid
OK, this may be hard to believe but I'm just now having to add washer fluid to my car after 14,700 miles and 3 years. I buy P21S and other "good" products to avoid doing anything bad to the paint, wheels, etc. on my car.
So, I was near a dealer a couple of weeks back and asked what they use as washer fluid and the parts guy totally surprizes me when he says "the blue stuff". You know, the $0.99/gallon stuff! Somehow this seems so, well, wrong to me. I know P21S offers a Booster product but I've not been able to find a good basic washer fluid that doesn't have a skull and crossbones on it. Whaddaya all use? BTW, in my area anti-freeze capability is a must for the winter. |
I get the blue stuff when it is on sale for 69 cents a gallon. :D
After 6 years of ownership my car is still alive. |
I use only Evian with a twist of lime.
Toolpants is a hopeless prole. |
Yes, the cheap stuff will do.

I use the blue gatorade...maybe because I'm a prole?

The blue stuff is also 'cool' in the coolant system.
I also hear it is an octane booster. |
OK, to close the loop on this (and maybe risk more joke photos... :D ), I came across the following today and have ordered some. The key info on the order page that helped by making the resulting fluid all-weather but remaining non-poisonous (as compared to the standard "blue stuff"'s skull-and-crossbones warning):
"Freeze prevention 303 Tablets may also be added to "anti-freeze" type premixes to provide the strong cleaning power most premixes lack. If you wish to add the tablet directly to water, you can add some isopropyl rubbing alcohol to the reservoir to prevent from freezing. To 1 quart of cleaner, add 8 fl oz to protect to 23 degrees F, or add 12 fl oz to protect to 7 degrees F." From http://www.sportscarcare.com/scc/product.asp?ItemID=303-was . |
don't spend so much on freeze-proof wiper fluid boosters that you could have just moved to california instead . . . . :D

Since it's the wife's car, we use the pink stuff. RainX is in it.
