Brake Pad Vibration Dampers ?

Preparing to replace front brake pads and rotors for the first time since I've owned my 2002 Base Boxster. No track time- Just spirited driving

Looks like a fairly easy task.

Will be using Textar pads and Zimmermann rotors.

Question - What are your thoughts on brake pad vibration dampers to minimize noise? Necessary or will your basic anti-squeal products do the trick?

Welcome. Are you talking about the original dampers that came attached to the original brake pads, well at least my 2000 'S' had them:

If so I actually ended up peeling mine off the old pads and reusing them...probably didn't need to but said what the heck.

I looked at some older threads and I don't think the base Boxster came with the dampers.

The car has 126,000 mi. on it - I know the pads have been replaced a few times.

Pull one out and check it, if it isn't using damper just replace with what's on it now. It is likely it will be one of the three TMD (now owned by Nisshimbo) brands Textar, Mintex, or Pagid. Lube it up real good and you should be OK. I keep a whole can of brake pad lubricant so I always have some handy.

Thanks for the insight - I think I'll go with the brake pad lubricant.

When I changed my brakes on both the '98 and the 2K S, I replaced the pads with Posi Quiet. They come with an extra anti chatter backing plate. I did not replace the Porsche (overly expensive) vibration noise devises. No problems so far. 10k miles plus. BTW: Great brake pads.
