Re-attach rain sensor mirror
I have a 2000 Boxster S. The mirror came un-stuck and upon examination, I discovered a sticky disk on the inside glass that was easy to scrape off and looked like clear double-sided tape. Forum posts dealt with getting the metal disk out of the mirror and using special glue to reattach. This seemed different so I dropped into the local dealer and asked what they knew. At first, dumb looks, then a mechanic said older cars with rain sensors used a special double sided disk that is a Porsche part. They had it, so I was on my way.
My question is, do I need to apply pressure over time, does it need to "cure" or is this a stick and go operation. There is an alcohol swab for cleaning but no instructions, so I thought I'd ask if anyone has experience with this type of fix. Thanks for the help! |
I have not ever done one that didn't take time to set up. Nothing is instant when it is weight bearing.

I thought about this and came to the same conclusion. I've never seen anything, even contact cement, that doesn't perform better when given a chance to "set". I constructed a jig to take the weight off the button and took a picture of it. Unfortunately, when attempting to follow the instructions on the forum for creating an album for pictures, I hit a dead end. There seems to be no place to create an album...at least not anymore. User CP would seem the likely place but no joy. Thanks for the reply
P.S. I did attempt an attachment of pic, maybe that will work. I'm pretty new to this! |
I love it!
