Bizarre: Cental locking problems solved by new key battery?

I experienced problems with central locking from the day I brought my 03 986 home two months ago. Weird problems like the alarm not setting (single horn beep), all kinds of error codes coming back on Duametric, the central locking button lighting up on its own, etc. Then, the key remote stopped working for central locking but would still work for the trunk releases.

For the heck of it I replaced the battery in my keys, and have had NONE of the problems since. Sometimes I need to hit the lock/unlock button on the key a few times for it to catch, but none of the other problems have recurred.

Coincidence? Or can a weak battery in the key make central locking go a little loco?

Thanks,
Ron
