Is there a Porsche design facility near by?

healthservices 11-02-2011 10:09 AM

Sorry, just threw up in my mouth. :barf:

TriGem2k 11-02-2011 10:59 AM

The car was completely covered in tape and vinyl. Parking sensors right above the rear defuser. LED lighting below the front head lights.

I was wondering I this was the new 4 cylinder turbo but couldn't tell as it was talk loud on the highway to hear it

Strange that it has Michigan plates but the car is in Cali.

Yeah Porsche's CA plates are #16403 & they have nothing in Mich., except VW North American headquaters. :(

It's normal for any vehicle going through road testing to run Mich. plates. If it was "concealed" it's likely an unannounced or upcoming model. Not much different but the back up camera and led's. I'm not crazy about the bumper reflectors.

Manufacturer's plates are issued from any state that contains auto manufacturers.

The camouflaged vehicle in this thread appears to be a preproduction 2013 Boxster.

you know, i was wondering if it might be a preproduction, but then i thought nah. but then i found this pic another pre-production boxster... and it seems to have some similar elements...

stateofidleness 11-02-2011 04:52 PM

interesting.
the first one has the bumperettes right next to the plate, while the last pic has the bumperettes more by the reflectors. Looks to be a US vs Euro difference though, so that may explain it. I don't hate it, but the rear curves are what I love about the 986, this one seems to "mess" with that...

I do like the cutout for the rear lid so you can get a few fingers under it to lift it :)

Dragonwind 11-03-2011 02:35 AM

That wasn't James May in the driver's seat was it?

TriGem2k 11-03-2011 10:50 AM

It had a female driver...

That looks like it's under the spoiler, not at the edge of the trunk lid, stateofidleness. I was wondering what that cutout was, got me wondering if the spoiler comes up high enough now to block the upper brake light, making that space under it act as a light when the spoiler is active...

Porsche Boxster S: Spy Shots Photo Gallery - Autoblog

Autoblog gets crotchety with people trying to directly link to their images, it seems, so I had to provide a link instead.
Take a look at the last two pictures where the rear of the vehicle is shown. I can't tell if there's a clear housing with a cluster of LEDs in there or if that's just a gap, hard to see in either picture, but could just be covered up in the camo'd car.
