Winter tire sizes for 16inch rims

With the impending start of winter, I sourced some 16 inch rims for my recently acquired 98 Boxster base.

The 17 inch wheels/tires will be stored for the winter as soon as I can decide which winter tires I should get for the 16 inch rims.

The standard size for 16's are 205/55/16 front and 225/50/16 rear. The options on tirerack for those sizes do not present any options for winter tires. I've read on the forum that I should maybe go narrower, but I have no experience with tire sizes.

Would any members of this forum have any winter tire recommendations for my 16 inch rims?

Lots of good choices if you run 205/55/16 on all four. That is exactly what I would do. No benefit to 225 rears in ice and snow. Happy shopping!
