redone armrests

I purchased my Box in May this year. The only cosmetic problem I had with the interior was the arm rests were totally chipped up. I later found out that the previous owner had a small dog that liked to sit on the drivers lap and put it's paws on the arm rest so it could stick it's head out the wndow, or just out in the fresh air with the top down. Anyway I thought I would share my results. I know others have done this fix but thought I would give others who may need to do this some encouragement.

I just finished them off in Metropol Blue Leather. This is a little more time consuming project than it may appear but the results are a much nicer looking arm rest. I also don't have the complaint from my wife that the black plastic is coming off on her arm or clothes. I have a few more pieces on the interior to do to finish the whole project.

Send me questions if you would like to know more.

Looks great.

I wish I could say I am this creative. I just bought the $65 replacements and had the upholstery shop put them in when I had the new top put on.

Nice work on the armrests.

Isn't that cute how the little dog would sit ... :barf: no, it's not.

I did mine last spring along with the door handle covers, best $25 ($15 for leather shipped, $10 for contact cement) I spent on the Boxster.

I want to do this with a carbon fiber weave pattern fabric. I've seen it on imported motorcyle seat covers. Seems like it would hide scratches better and give an upgraded look.

Thinking about doing the the back and sides of my GT3 seats too. They get a little scratched from tossing things behind the seats. The wiper trim outside might be a good spot too along with the window molding around the soft top, the air intake covers, etc.

Good morning,
I have an '03 Boxster S - Arctic Silver w/ Metropol Blue top and interior. I admire what you have done with your door pocket lid armrests and I would very much like to do the same to mine. Would you please let me know where I may source the needed materials as well as any other tips? Thank you very much.

I am also interested in refinishing the door handle pull covers in Metropol Blue leather. Any information on material sourcing and installation tips is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Armrests

There are lots of cool options for redoing the armrests. It's a great spot to begin the mod bug!http://986forum.com/forums/uploads01...1370690456.jpg

Did the same thing. Really is a nice upgrade. I also put padding under the leather to make them more comfortable to use.
