I've been reading and contributing to this blog for three years and haven't seen this addressed before. I have chosen to leave the "Boxster" emblem on the trunk. Does anyone have any clever ideas of how to wax, polish, etc in, under, and around an emblem without getting wax on the emblem and not having to clean up the aftermath with a Q-tip?

If I am using carnuba or paste wax then I wax to about an inch away from the letters. I come back with a synthetic wax which does not leave white reside or powder to get up close to the letters being careful not to hook the pointy ends of the letters with the towel.

Get a very soft, 1 inch bristle brush, cut back the bristles until they are about 1/2 inch long. This will get the white wax residue out of anything.

My fix was simply removing the name plate and putting it on the spoiler (see my garage). The rear is now cleaned up and when my spoiler pops up everyone knows what just blew by them.

Great idea Jaxon

I no longer have a badge on the back of my car. After the polishing cloth caught the bottom of my B, I became the proud owner of an Oxster S.

Before I removed the badge however, I just used to use a surgical nail brush to remove the white residue once it dried.

carnuba close to the letters, then spray on wax. i usually use the spray on after each wash to prolong the base application. i do like to use a product called speed shine between washes.

Just a really soft cloth can be used to rub around and slightly under the letters.
