I agree, you should at least allow members to have avatars.;)

If the interface allows, why not let people use them as long as users can choose to either see or not see them when viewing the forum?

I think this is the cleanest approach - having the avatar / pic off to the left.

Awww, I really like signature pictures. Keeping them tastefully limited in height & width, of course, but it really adds a sense of belonging to the place to be able to customize your sig. Plus, it's a quick and easy way to tell who's who.

I used to frequent AudiWorld's TT forum in years gone by, and seeing everyone's car in the signature there was very cool.

Unfortunately I have to side with Wayne's judgement on this matter. I like sig pics too, but sometimes people get too carried away with them and they really can clutter up a page.

Now what I'm trying to figure out is how to put up an avatar that's not one of the stock ones to choose from, there does not seem to be a way to browse and load your own image.

Actually, it was disabled for everyone but me :). So I re-enabled it.
