Love it ! One of my favs !

p.s. Did you add the vents on the top of the bumper ?

Wingnut2u 10-01-2011 09:23 AM

Yes, I added the vents, personally I think it makes a huge difference in the aesthetics of the bumper, but that is just my opinion.

I am thinking about wrapping the hood in a matte black, like the new GT3, which should look nice when I get my old wheels back on that have the black centers and red lips

I concur, the vent adds a nice touch !

Looks great.
Didn't you already have a very nice carature (SP?) bumper?

Ghostrider 310 10-01-2011 12:43 PM

I wanted to buy that same one but Alois was asking 2K if I remember right, add paint and it was over my budget, went with the GT3 and lip.

Yes I did, but unfortunately I hit a curb and cracked the underside of the CTR bumper. When I went in for an estimate the body shop just happened to have a RUF bumper in the back, no brainer, I swapped out for the RUF bumper

Stroked & Blown 10-02-2011 01:54 PM

nice timing.

You can order the RUF bumper through GT-Racing for under 1K.

Love it! I always liked those front bumpers.

This may be a dumb question but here goes. If you add a bumper like this to a non-S does the air going into the center cavity cause problems?

The short answer is no. In fact, you'll find that virtually every aftermarket bumper incorporates the center air channel . This poses no problem for a non S boxster . It's simply easier to create a single design .

jsceash 10-06-2011 07:20 AM

On this replacement and on the one you have (Johnny D) do the under body shield and airdams that were stock all mount back in on either S or Non-S.

Perfectlap 10-06-2011 07:42 AM

where did you get the side intake? I'm thinking about adding that with the Boxster Spyder Porsche lettering for the doors...Just adding some black to the mix.
Maybe I'll just get a second set of OEM and paint them black.

I'm also trying to find a set of winter wheels that aren't 19" with the updated Pcar look.

How did you add that vent? Looks awesome!

I'm not exactly sure what your referring to ? But, a properly designed aftermarket bumper will utilized the same mounting points as the original, and there shouldn't be any reason to eliminate underbody shields or air dams (?) .

I recall from a previous for sale post by another member that was selling the same RUF front bumper, it comes with its own under body shield and airdams.

Johnny Danger 12-01-2011 09:58 AM

I know that the Ruf bumper comes with it's own dedicated set of front intake ducts . However, I'm not sure about an underbody shield . Most aftermarket bumpers reuse the oem ducts . Wingnut2u should know.

Wingnut2u, although both versions look spectacular, I like the original look better without the black hood wrap...very clean!

You are correct, I was hoping to have my wheels ready by then but things happened. Anyway here is a crappy cell phone shot of what it should have looked liked at the Palooza. Ignore the lovely cars in the background

I still can't believe I didn't win best Boxster...lol

I agree the wrap will not be for everyone, it only cost me $100 to put it on, so I really consider this to be a test run as I can always just peel it off.

JD you are correct the RUF bumper came with all of its own ducting but I am pretty sure that it used the factory undertray as I do not have a spare laying around my garage from the original install

Perfectlap 12-02-2011 08:59 AM

I think your hood would look nice if you used a single stripe down the middle like the 4.0 GT3.
It ends neatly at the hood crest. Maybe with a little white on the stripe edge.

Even though i prefer the red hood, this thing is still badass!!!!!!

Ghostrider 310 12-03-2011 02:48 AM

I like the black hood with red, more than I thought I would. If anything grabs my eye it's the radiators peeking out the huge vents. I'd shoot therm black to diminish the draw of your eye. otherwise, It's a cool car that I'm sure gets a lot of attention, nice job.

You've got the bike rack mounts on your car! Let's see it with a bike on it!!

kyleturner2020 03-23-2012 05:51 PM

Was driving next to you today out on loop 12! awesome!

tightbox 03-23-2012 07:18 PM

It includes an undertray. The entire assembly (bumper, 3x ducts, and undertray) is actually quite heavy. I have pictures of the whole thing spread out in front of my car somewhere. I'll see if I can dig them up.

The aftermarket knockoff RUF fiberglass unit I had prior was about 1/4 the weight, but I was worried about it cracking on a speedbump.

Wingnut2u 03-25-2012 06:06 AM

Thanks for the compliments!

@Perfect, I am with you on the stripe and that will probably be my next experiment with the graphics on the car
