New (to me) Boxster...

Just bought my(wife her) first P-car after bailing out of my Defender-90. This thing is incredible!! Wife picked me up at the airport last night & I was all twitchy waiting to see it. Here are the stats:
1999 Arctic Silver/grey leather that is absolutely perfect
33k miles
sport package, heated seats, hifi, CD220
Bought it from the original owner, a doc who ordered it new in '99(it's going from a single doctor-owned car to a 2nd owner woman-doctor-owned car...should help us with the resale  )
Has prolly the most complete documentation of any car I've ever bought, every service record & receipt is there, and every magazine article on the Boxster from 1996-1998(makes for great reading) leading up to his decs. to purchase.
AND, had a new motor put in w/10k miles in 11/99, which was pretty interesting. If anyone wants, I'll type up the tech comments on the engine failure, from what I remember cylinder 1&3 grenaded. The car's engine is actually still under warranty, the documentation from PCNA (apology letter, Certificte of Authenticity) states the the warranty on the engine internals expires 2yrs/unlimited miles after the 4yr & 50k expires, which is right around Sept/Oct 2005.
Here's an oddball question though...it was mentioned in passing by the seller (who's had 4-5 other Pcars)that the motor Porsche put into the car was "more powerful than the one they took out"...I tend to be somewhat skeptical of this, anyone have any input?

Thanks

Mspell

Congrats and welcome to the world of Porsche! :D

The motor could possibly be more powerful. They changed the Boxster engine in the 2000 model to a 2.7L vs. the previous 2.5L engine. A little more HP. If the engine was replaced after the 2000 model was in production, maybe they put the 2.7L engine in.

The really good thing is you have the new engine. There was a problem with some '99 models built over about a 4 month period. There was a problem at the factory, blah, blah, blah, but it was only over the 4 months. You should be good to go now for years to come.
