California Highway Patrol selects Porsche as 2006 pursuit vehicles[/size]
ATLANTA, June 27, 2005 - The California Highway Patrol has announced today that its is standardizing on the Porsche 987 Boxster as its 2006 pursuit vehicles to replace its aging fleet of Chevrolet Camaros. http://www.gjlenterprise.com/chp.jpg CHP spokesman Officer Bruce Nowwegotcha said that after extensive testing the Porsche Boxster was found to have all of attributes necessary for a proper pursuit vehicle. "The Boxster has 2 trunks which allows us to stash all of our police stuff" Officer Nowwegotcha was quoted as saying. "The Camaros were at the end of their useful life, and were never able to be used fully given that CHP officers are prohibited from wearing mullets while on duty" he added. The initial order for 200 Porsche Boxsters will be completed by the end of 2005 with the majority of units being placed in service in high enforcement areas. Porsche Cars North America spokesman Lorna Gattasped said that the CHP contract represents a new market for Porsche in the US and expects other states to watch closely the CHP purchase. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), based in Atlanta, Ga., and its subsidiary, Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd., are the exclusive importers of Porsche police cars for the United States and Canada. HAHAHA!!! This is great! |
so where do they put the prisoner once they catch him?
|
Probably in one of the two trunks aside their police stuff...ahhahahah...I'd PAY to drive that Box around.
|
So then It will look like mine
http://www.p-caronline.com/directory...ran_image5.jpg edit: And BTW, Pursuit VE is only that, for "pursuit". Once caught, a full squad car is called in if someone is arrested. |
Where will they put the flashie lights?
Hmm, maybe I should paint the doors on mine white.... |

We have a few BMW's used by the Highway Patrol here in SC... they donated some since they have a plant here.
I've caught and passed one (slowly) on the road. The guy had his hat off, and while the car was painted silver with the stripes and badges like all SC Troopers drive, it had no light bar. That's not unusual though, they have Mustangs, Camaros, and Crown Vics that are completely unmarked. Pretty sneaky, if you ask me! |

Not all highway VEs have roof mounted lights. Many use existing healight and tail light housing for the strobes. It makes for a cleaner and undetectable look at night. IE : you can't tell if its a normal person or cop tailgating you to make you go faster at night. If you can't see a roof mounted lighting system, you would never know if its a cop or not. |
Of course, you all do realize that this is just a joke, right? :)
