central locking

Hi every body
I have a problem
1998 Boxster car wouldn’t respond to key transponder or key in lock
So went for release cable and got the bonnet open thinking flat battery
But no managed to get doors open
Removed drivers side door card and lock refitted key barrel as it wasn’t in its proper locating slot
Replaced every thing
Car wont lock
Windows go up as norm if you use the transponder it locks the car with 2 bleeps and then unlocks it
Same with key

Car foot wells have water in
Central locking button doesn’t work
I don’t think fuel cap is locking
All so the levers for the boot and bonnet have the security cam in place
And roof works
And help thanks
Had the car 3 week love it

It sounds like your central alarm unit located under your seat has gotten soaked. I think someone posted a method for drying it out that may restore function (try searching "wet alarm ").

More importantly, you need to determine why the footwells are wet. Most likely plugged drain tubes. Again, a search of the forum will tell you how to locate and clear them.

Good luck - post back if you need more help.

any ideas welcome

I think at this point replacing the unit is about your only option. Unfortunately, it's kinda pricey.

From Main Agent with 1 Hour on the laptop £550

Hi well a new week
can any body tell me if a 3.2 ECU is the same ?
as the controller is the same No

jaguarman22 09-13-2011 12:16 PM

Well for some fun i got a replacement lock kit off eBay with ecu shuld be fun will let you know what happens :)

jaguarman22 09-25-2011 12:47 PM

Hi all
well got a replacement alarm ecu and had all in information transferred from the old ECU to the replacement
It has unlocked the Bonnet and Boot
But it doesn’t lock the car
It locks it and the horn bleeps twice and then it unlocks
I think the fuel flap lock isn’t working as I can’t feel any movement when you lock the car as you can feel the door locks locking and unlocking
If the fuel flap is faulty will this cause the problem?
