Speaker Question

I searched the forum but didn't find an answer to this exact question. I have a 99 Boxster base. It didn't come with door speakers. Can I cut holes in the door panels to accommodate the speakers, or will the window get in the way? I have Polk audio DXI 525(5 1/4") . Or is the some kind of extender baffle i can use?

... buy door panels that do have the speakers and just install them in yours.
Dismantlers have the door panels in almost every interior color you'll need.
It's a uniquely-shaped baffle which will be difficult to replicate on your own.
Happy Boxstering,

I have an ad on here requesting door panels in red. Haven't got a response yet. In the meantime, I want to install the speakers I have if it can be done, hence the question.

Mine came with no door speakers and I added 6 inch round ones to the location where they would have come from the factory. They are simply cut into the interior panel, and just like the factory speakers they do not interfere with the window operation. I added dynamat sound proofing material to the door panel and to a few places on the back of the interior panel after the initial installation because the door vibrated so badly but now it sounds great. So, no factory baffles in my case.
My speaker grills now are mounted to the interior surface, so it doesn't look factory, but that doesn't bother me.

Thanks! That's what I wanted to know before I chopped it up. I didn't want to cut and then have a "DUOH" moment. lol
