Scotch Guard

Hey guys . What type of scotch guarding products would you recommend for the boxster top ? Also if you can recommend a reliable technique for scotch guarding the top I would appreciate it.

I have as others on the board used RaggTopp with great results, I would stay away from Scotch Guard.

Thanks. Is there a liquid form of Raggtopp and if there is, is it easier to use than the spray can ?

I use 303 aerospace, available at marine stores. Whatever you use, just pour some into a container and then soak a small piece of sponge in the fluid and then use the sponge to apply. It will foam slightly on application but the foam will quickly dissapate. My top still beads water like well waxed paint after 3 months.

I used 303 Aerospace over three years ago and it still beads water. Did not spray it on, used a paint brush to apply it so it would thoroughly soak into the fabric. Got it at the marine supply store.

Another 303 Fan

I apply 303 with a disposable foam brush. Works great and my black top looks like new.

Love Ragg Topp. My 5.5 year old top looks brand new! I coated it when brand new, and every other year. Your Boxster left the factory with Ragg Topp's product on it.

Creases and wear on the top.

Will this help prevent the creases and wear marks where the top folds?
I have a grey top (from an 03 so 8 years old now) that shows wear in the spots that the top folds.

Any ideas on this - never seen a thread on this topic.

To revive an old thread...

Has anyone used this on their convertible top (mine's black)?:

There have been forum members here who have used this product to revive a black top. Results looked good. I'll try to find the old posts.

I'd still say, after reviving the black-ness and color, it would still be wise to treat the top (after several days of dye drying and curing) with either 2-4 light coats of Ragg Topp or 303.
