Front Lip Adhesive

I just ordered a universal front Lip for my 986.

The ad had pictures of two other 986 Boxsters with the same lip and it looked amazing.

The problem is, the lip does not come with screws or adhesives to attach it.

It has to withstand rain, summer heat, the wind at highway speeds, and possible speed bump taps.

Any suggestions on strong weatherproof double stick tape I can use? Where to buy?

Thanks

I wouldn't think double stick would do ir. Think industrial adhesives.

Why don't you call the company and ask?

Regards PK

They said use 3M Double stick weatherproof tape, that is red in color on one side. They also said that it is not guaranteed to hold and that I should drill holes and put screws in just incase.

I use 3M double-sided tape with my Klisstle roll bar overlays and it is overkill for my light weight product. It is REALLY strong tape that is weatherproof. Do a YouTube search for 3M VHB (very high bond) tape and you will see some interesting videos.

I'm not sure what your front lip weighs and how much surface area is available so I can't say for sure if only the tape would be sufficient. I would think the seller's recommendation of tape and screws would be safe.

Here is the link to the ebay ad with pictures. The blue and yellow cars are Boxster's, but I want mine to look like how it looks on the blue boxster. You can put it on however you want. It is a universal 9 foot long flexible lip.

Pretty much all of the cars pictured have a front spoiler installed including the blue boxster. All you are getting is a piece of rubber to install on the bottom of a spoiler.

I know. I was just saying only two of the cars pictured are Boxsters. The others are 911's. The yellow Boxster painted the front lip yellow and had it sticking out more on the sides than the blue Boxster, which kept it flat black.

The 5 pound 3M double sided "red" tape is extremely strong...once in place, you will not be able to remove it other than destroying the piece it is attached to. I've used this on a number of exterior projects and can say with certainty how strong it is. My question is how it is attached, as the front bumper on a Boxster is flat underneath; i.e. no "lip" to attach to?
