Ever See This Accessory?

Was on Craig's List today and came across this car add at a local dealership,http://oklahomacity.craigslist.org/ctd/2543393712.html . I've never seen this accessory before so I had to call and ask if I could buy it off the car. Unfortunately it's bolted to the lid, a salesman said he would sell the rack for $16,950 and it comes with a 1999 Boxster. I passed on the offer.

Looks like a Surco aftermarket unit, about $200 online:

It should be removable. I have the same rack it does what it needs to do. U can put some decent sized suitcases on it for the long trips.

It would be sacrilege to put a rack on the rear trunk of a boxster !! Even if it was yellow !

Yep. They've been around forever. MG's and other small convertible's have had them. Pretty universal fit I believe. That one is a little higher profile than I would probably go with but they are functional.

Amen. If it won't fit in the frunk, you've packed too much.

Sorry, but my first thought was "You'd really put that on your car? Seriously?"

I was momentarily distracted by the luggage rack and overlooked the fact that they're trying to sell a $13,000 car for $17,000.

Exactly what I was thinking. You can get an "S" for that.
