Rear Trunk Help Please!

My 03 Boxster rear trunk switch would not release the trunk although it did/does sound like it was trying to. Tried to push down etc., on trunk to relieve pressure. I then loosened the fender and pulled the cord and it broke it's pin or mount and I ended up with it in my hand.

Has anyone seen or dealt with this? My dealer even seems confused on what to do. Is there possibly another way to manually release the latch. Prior to it not opening last week there was never any indication such as sticking or intermittent.

Thanks for any advice.

I've had two customers ...

... with a very similar problem.
The trunk lid would not open via the release latch next to the driver's door, and the customer had ended up with the emergency release cable in his hand.

One of them I was able to get it open by simply activating the servo using a Porsche System Tester -II (PST-II) and activating the corresponding drive link.

The second one I had to drill a 1" hole right behind the actual trunk latch so that I could manually open it. Later, the hole was taped over using aluminum (A/C) tape. It is covered by the bumper, so no one knows it's there. That particular car was black so we even sprayed the tape black.

Happy Boxstering,
Pedro

Pedro,
Where in FL are you. Maybe I can come to you? I am located in Ocala.
Thanks,
Ed
