It's like having two cars - a convertible in the summer and a coupe in the winter.

If you have a plastic-window top the hard top offers a defroster and protects the window from cold temperatures.

If you can find a good deal on one, you should seriously consider it.

Hard tops are awesome

I was amazed at how much storage space they take up, though.

You can't beat having a hardtop in a cold Midwest winter. I had a Boxster before, and the grit and dirt that they put on the highways in winter would get ground and rubbed into the convertible top material, which prematurely aged it and wore it out, plus it always looked dirty. It is nice being able to drive year-round without worrying about the top, plus the Boxster hardtop is an exceptionally nice look, as evidenced by the sharp-looking car pix posted in this thread. Of course, I admit bias -- I have a Cayman now ...

Love my hardtop. Really classes up the car. I use mine in the sweltering, middle of summer Tennessee heat as well.

We use our hard top during the winter months. Like the look.

BTW: I told the Porsche factory folks at the Invitational Test Drive event in Sun Valley Idaho on Sunday that many of use would like to have a Cayman styled hard top.

I like the look too. It's quiet and has the rear defoggers.

I've used my Boxster in the Washington DC area as a daily driver for the past 3 years. No problems at all with the soft top. It's an 05 so plastic window is not an issue.

Ahhh! I want a hard top. After the extensive suspension work coming up next week, hard top has to wait. I always liked the Zeintop but, could never get a quote I was comfortable with purchasing one. Cool concept, just came at such a high price.

Hard tops rock!

Mine is currently off the car, though I think that after I get a few more open-top miles under my belt, I will put the top on and just leave it there year-round. I like the noise reduction and style that the hard top brings.

For me the answer is - no hard top. It is a roadster therefore it's a convertible all the time, all the way.
