I traded it in for a Honda :(

:)

I had a craftsman mower for the past seven years. It never ran good or anything. I bit the bullet an went over to lowes and picked up a honda powered troy bilt. I never knew that I could love a lawn mower the way I love this thing. It's quiet, does not vibrate and started the first pull out of the box. I know this has nothing to do with boxsters but.... This is the general discussion area.

I'll second that!

I had a Lawnboy, then a craftsman. Bought a Honda powered Husqvarna (sp?) last summer at a local farm and ranch store and it practically starts itself! It was $400 but well worth it.

Put on the Bose noise cancelling headphones and mow away!

Does that new mower come with the sport exhaust option ?

Love my Honda mower. It can withstand any abuse I threw at it. Mowed dozens of beer cans (teenagers threw it to my yard after the weekend fun... ), hit lots of rocks and it is still alive after 4 years of no oil change (not even oil level check). It even ran on expired gas (forgot to put fuel stabilizer last winter and it started at the 3rd pull (no fuel drain, full tank of expired gas) :D
I never cleaned it (even I supposed to do that at the end of the season at the minimum). I think I will do my first oil change this year.

I killed a briggs and straton engined mower in 6 months with the same treatment :o

No sport exhaust. Pure luxury. Actually I just pulled off my bypass pipes and put on the fabspeed high flow cats for inspection. But I kinda like the warm, tuned quiet tone it is producing now.

Agreed...had B&S engines on lots of mowing

equipment while growing up (that was my job when in HS) and once you try a honda you will never go back...there is obviously a premium paid for the honda engine over the others but it is worth it. They are so quiet and start so easily. Kawasaki comes in a close second too!

You had me going there for a second... Thought you traded your Boxster in for a Honda.

That would hav been really really sad. :p

Overdrive 08-01-2011 10:04 AM

I'm in the same boat as Randall, who got me with his "928" bit last week, too. I thought, "there's just no way he'd do it...no way."

 can we ease up on the media-style shock tactics with thread titles, now?

JAAY 08-01-2011 10:06 AM

Haha. We have to keep it fresh here aside from the spark plug DIY threads etc.

RandallNeighbour 08-01-2011 10:12 AM

Overdrive, I had it coming to me. You on the other hand, didn't deserve it twice!

We have had two Honda mowers. One was built in 1978 and ran without any issues until my dad took it in for a tune up three years ago and they broke the carburetor. You could not buy a carburetor for that old of a honda engine, so we had to donate that away. It was a sad day. Our other honda mower we have had for 12 years now and it starts with one pull EVERY TIME! Amazing to say the least.

........and Honda cars aren't even broken in until they go over 200k miles.
Wifey won't even think about replacing one of her Hondas until it passes 300k.
Her current (2002 Civic) has 255k. Never missed a beat, lost one sensor at about 200k - $168.00.
Daughter's 2001 Prelude is sneeking up 0n 200k. Never missed a beat, one repair outside routine maintenance - AC compressor at 165k.
My 2010 Fit DD is the new kid on the bloc at 32!!!
(We've had a Honda powered lawn tractor for eight years)

RandallNeighbour 08-01-2011 03:21 PM

I didn't fare so well with our 97 Accord. Needed front axles at 80k and AC work too, even though I kept up with all the maintenance as if my life depended upon it.

So not all Honda cars are equally dependable.
