Euro Taillights
I have a 01 986 and am looking for a OEM set of the euro taillights to get rid of the amber. Does anyone have a set they are willing to sell? PM me if you do. Thank you
|
These aren't "Euro" taillights, you just need the clear ones from 03-04.
|
or you can get led tail lights from ebay

suncoast sells for $300-$500. the LED ones on eBay look cheap

I got these inexpensive smoked 'Depot' brand...they actually look nice (well I think). There are other clear and smoked ones that don't look so nice, I looked very closely at the pictures and made sure I was getting the set I had seen on other cars. They don't have a place for the side reflector light but it's not a big deal to me.

that does have a nice look to it. How long ago did you order them? You happen to have the ebay seller info?

Euro Tail lights
I scored a set of OEM Euro tail lights from a dismantler on the East coast from Ebay and paid $150 plus $20 shipping. And they were near perfect too. Tried the DEPO brand but when we installed the left side it did not fit correctly. Fortunately the Ebay seller sent return shipping label and gave me a full credit. I much prefer the OEM tail lights even if they're not LED.. higher quality all the way around :)

Do you happen to have some pictures at night with the tail-lights on?
thanks |
I will take some with the brake lights on and off. Stay tuned.
|
Suncoast has really jumped their prices up. I got mine for 185 back in the day a couple years back...
|
Took pics with cell phone (don't have the good camera) with parking lights and brake lights...both came out awful, not worth posting. I will say though...the brake lights are really really bright!
|
Thanks for trying.
BTW your car looks great! Love the color!!! |
Has anyone put on the all red models from the 2004 Boxster 550?

Lettering on lid...

Like the lights fine but I REALLY like the lettering on the trunklid. Where did you find those letters and are they held on with an adhesive backing? Great job in getting them on, they look factory. Nice clean ride :) Cheers |
I agree I like the way PORSCHE is spelled out. I just spent hours debadgeing mine and buffing the get the paint and scratches out. Had a hell of a time taking boxster off. I have seen the letters on eBay but would seem hard to line up perfectly.

Got it from ****************************************************. It is genuine Porsche, part #970 559 235 01. Here is how I did it.
- Remove old emblem...so much fun (I went to the dentist yesterday and that was fun too ;) - Orbital buff with a med cut, then fine cut, then compound, then polish. Paint will now be like glass and all but the faintest outline of the old emblem will be gone. - Use a string that reaches from tail light to tail light. Tape it securely on to each tail light exactly where the red plastic transitions to the clear (smoked in my case) plastic. It will now be acting as a plumb line - Determine the exact middle and mark string with sharpie. This is where the S will go. - Stick on the 'S' so that the sharpie mark is exactly in the middle of the letter. - To stick on the remaining letters you can do it two ways. 1 - mark the string the distance you want between each letter (in my case I used one inch); 2 - or use one inch painters tape and apply it to the outside of each letter as you stick them on. I used both methods together actually. I initial marked the string but was concerned about the top and bottom of each letter being exactly one inch top and bottom to the letter beside it...so as I added each letter I put the tape in place. I'm sure there are probably better ways, but this was the only way I could think of making sure it was level, spaced properly, and that each letter would not be cockeyed to the one beside it. It is very easy to clean around now, but even if you put the Boxster 'S' back on at least you won't have all that old build up of wax and dirt. Cheers. |
