Question about convertible indicator light

I lowered the top on my 2003 Boxster S last week for the first time since owning the car. The top lowered perfectly fine and raised fine at the end of my drive. This past weekend when I took the car out again the convertible top indicator light stayed on as I drove. I tried to lower the top and bring it back up to see if I didn't close it properly last week, but the light remained on. Can anyone please tell me what I did wrong and what can I do to get the light to go out?
Thanks.

You need to keep your finger on the button long enough and until the light goes off. The car electronics know when to stop the top motor even if your finger is still pushing the button.
