I like Meguires Plastix polish for the headlight covers on my Boxster. Also does a good job on the plastic rear window too.

1500 grit wet sand until smooth and uniform, then take a right angle buffer (or drill) and attach a polishing wheel (foam) with clear lens polish until shiny. Then hit with an automotive clear coat or reduce 2k black paint and mist for tinted look.

Or you can 500 / 1000/ 1500/ 2000 and then polish either with a buffer (either rotary or orbital) or by hand with a good polish/swirl remover.

Either way is pretty effective.

I used Meguiares on my older DD and it worked. I bought the headlight restoration kit and it came with a sponge that attached to my drill.
My headlamp was completely yellow, it almost made no difference driving with headlamp on or off before. It restored my headlamp to 90% new.
The main issue is, they start to be yellowing again this year (after 1 year) and I have to re-do the whole process again.

I tried the 3M kit with similar results on my '99 New Beetle. It did work but shortly after the yellowing started again.

I understand that one of these headlight restore kits has some sort of an alleged "preservative" that you put on after you have cleared up the lens. Sorry I don't know what manufacturer makes this.

The problem is that...

... unless you apply a protective UV coat it will yellow again.
The UV coat s available are only sold to professionals and most of them have to be air sprayed on.
I've done quite a few Boxster headlights with this UV coat and we guarantee them from yellowing up to 3 years.
I don't know why these UV coats aren't sold to the general public.
Happy Boxstering,
Pedro
