Are your nuts rusty?
 

For a so called premium marque, Porsche's quality control seems quite appalling at times. In the last month, I've had another coil pack replaced and a new battery (this one lasted 2years 5 months).

This month's issue concerns the wheels, specifically rusty wheel bolts and peeling laquer on the alloys. All four of my Turbo 11 alloys are showing signs of peeling laquer and my wheel nuts, which have been repainted several times, are looking tatty once again. (And in case you ask, no, I don't use a pressure washer on the wheels and the car doesn't go out when there's salt on the roads.)

None of the rest of the family fleet (a VW, BMW, Honda, Land Rover and Peugeot) have this problem and all of these are of higher mileage and are older than the Boxster. Looking around a local car park recently, not even ten year old Hyundai and Kias seem to have this problem.

So why is it, when even Peugeot and third world brands can get this right, why can't Porsche?

Anyone else suffer with this problem?

Neither of my Boxsters (98 & 00) suffer from any peeling problems on the wheels but some of the nuts are shappy looking and slightly rusty. My boss recently bought a 2006 Cayenne and I pointed out to him how 2 of his wheels are peeling already. Shabby Shame.
