Replacing warped rotors- change pads also?
It seems like my front passenger rotor is warped as I'm getting a vibration during braking. As I'm slowing down, a slight metal grinding sound goes with the speed of the car. I'm planning to replace the front rotors. Do people usually change the pads out at the same time, or can I reuse them? They're at about 60% right now.
Also, any recommended rotors out there for street use? I never track. |
If you're experiencing brake problems, its best to change both the rotors and pads.

Why do you think the rotor is warped? It's really not that easy to warp a rotor.
Just take the brakes off first and see what you find. You can always try having the offending rotor turned before replacing it.h |
I thought you cannot turn S cross drilled rotors? My mechanic said it is probably warped- but I cannot be sure he even took it apart and inspected it.

Take it to an auto parts store, they can turn them.
Here's a commentary from one shop: http://www.brakeandfrontend.com/Article/46342/rotor_runout_check_list.aspx |
