Throttle Issue?

Former owner of 87 targa and wish I would not have sold it...another in the future, perhaps.

Anyway, to the point, I volunteered my "services" to track a possible throttle issue (for my sister-in-law) with a 2000 986 with Egas. The dash shows CEL-P1501 using an off the shelf code reader.

symptoms: car starts with unstable idle from 500-1100rpm. Additionally, the rpms will not go above 2K when pushing the accelerator. Clear the code and the idle returns to a stable 800rpm on the nose and car revs up and down without incident. Once the car is turned off, issues resume.

My research has pointed to the throttle position sensor, but I have no idea where it is. I do know it is not located on the throttle body in the engine compartments. Can anyone please offer any insight/suggestions, etc...I do love Porsche motors and I'd like to be the good guy on this one!

Thanks,

LL
