I have been having a problem with my plastic rear window folding correctly when putting the top down. Is there a secret to retraining it to fold properly so I do not need to get out of the car each time and show it what to do? Thanks .......

None that has been posted. The "chop" is a required step in putting the top down. I believe they even have that in the manual.

I find the chop only necessary when the temp is low, and when the weather is warm or the sun is shining on the window, then it folds properly. I think with the heat the plastic heats up and offers no resistance, so it folds properly.

my experience has been the same as boxster-mk. the only other instance is if you're lowering it again shortly after it had just been down. then it seems to "remember." otherwise, the "chop" is necessary as bruce said.

My experience has been that the little peak in the middle of the window will form regardless of temperature. When the plastic is warm it will fold easier, no question. My concern would be that as the peak is forced out during the lowering process, it is going to stretch the plastic in that one area, and ultimately split it.
The objective of the chop is to keep that from happening.

try this one day when you are home or near to your car, lower the top but not fully. Stop lowering it at the point where the crease is perfect and fully bent and leave it there for a few hours. Grab a bed sheet and cover your interior to protect it from sun and birds.
After you do this maybe a couple of time it will remember the crease but the trick for me is to slowly lower the top when the crease is forming and then you can continue at full speed.
I did the moving top hack and I haven't had to the chop since the weather warmed up. Renovo keeps the creaze from hazing.

I try to chop with a cloth, not my bare, greasy, slimy hands. I keep a baseball hat or two behind the seats and I push the window down with the hat, then put it on, and drive off.

are you often greasy and slimy? :D

I drive with Under Armor Batting gloves, keeps the sweat of the fine leather.
