Best place to buy oxygen sensors
I just got a “check engine light” on my 2001 Boxster at 34000 miles. No engine performance decline, just the light coming on. Bought an Actron code checker and got “code P0134” for bad oxygen sensor.
Based on reading other threads on this site, I should probably replace all 4 sensors. What is the current thought on the best place to buy O2 sensors with the correct wires and plugs attached? Randall Neighbor previously suggested www.oxygensensors.com as a good place to get them at reasonable cost (today = $77.52/each at http://www.oxygensensors.com/catalog.php?&pkey=1374836). I’m wondering if these are good ones or if I should look somewhere else for Bosch units. Any suggestions appreciated. Thanks. |
It might be a bad sensor, or harness, or heating circuit, or DME. Further diagnosis recommended. The simplest approach is to swap sensors and see if the error code moves to the other side. If it does, it's the sensor.
From Renntech: P0134 Oxygen Sensor Ahead of TWC, Bank 1 – Interruption of Signal Possible causes: Open circuit in signal wire or ground wire Oxygen sensor heating not functioning Output stage in DME control module faulty Internal resistance too high Check: – Wiring harness – Oxygen sensor – DME control module |
Try cleaning your MAF first. I've read that some have suggested replacing all 4 O2 sensors at the same time, but I don't see why. The sensors behind the cat should last much longer than the ones before it. at 34,000 miles, you shouldn't have to replace anything if the car wasn't abused.

Advance auto parts has them for cheap and if you buy online you can use discount coupon codes to save even more $$$
Make sure you avoid the same mistake I made! Buy ones that you DO NOT HAVE TO SPLICE!!! |
