Time for a new top!

I recently picked up a new 02 Meridian S and its rear window is now 40% clear packing tape. After looking at the costs involved I've decided to go with a new top. Based on lots of searching and investigation it looks like the tops from autotopsdirect are good quality and work well, and VERY cost effective.

The one question that remained was, what color top to get? Going from colors online wasn't ideal so I got a few samples sent to me.

Graphite Grey (light)
Space Grey (dark)
Black

Took a few photos since there wasn't much info out there on these color options in case others had a similar choice some day. Id' welcome any thoughts or opinions, although my gut says Space Grey right now. We'll see what the fiancee has to say this evening.

Black is classy and classic.

I like the lighter gray but you can't go wrong with black.

Once you go black, you never go back..

Stay black my friend!

wow. perfect! i'm in the exact same boat. my top is not that bad yet..no duct tape yet. but my plastic window is just annoying me. i currently have the light grey top. i like it and would consider getting it again, but forewarning, it makes black crease marks where the top folds. again, the top is in good condition, but just after repetitive use, the fabric "frays" just slightly, but enough to make the fold lines visible. i love the fact that you got samples because i was debating the same thing. my exterior is the exact same color as yours too. i also like the dark gray. better than the light gray. but given what i know from experience of my existing top, perhaps the black is the best bet. hopefully, you won't see the "fold lines" when the top gets older. also, per autotopsdirect, the "acoustic" top only comes in black. supposedly, this top is quieter than the others.

let me know which you decide. i'm leaning toward black acoustic top. i wonder if we buy them together, will they give us a better deal? probably not, but never hurts to ask. i was just about to order when i got on the computer. but was just going through my routine of just checking in to this forum first. haha.

1) Black - standard
2) Space Grey - different
3) Graphite Grey - too light IMHO

What is the color of your interior (seat color)?

Can't go wrong staying with original black top.

I have a seal grey with a lighter color top and IMO it makes the car look a bit classier than the standard looking black top that you see most convertibles have.

Black is best. It will look better for longer.
I am in the same boat. Think of new black top with glass window instead. Anybody know a very good supplier and approx cost so I can compare. Thanks.

Interesting to see all the different feedback! I've ordered the Space Grey with plastic window (really dont want to lose the engine access\visibility\light). I really wanted to do something a little different. I'll post photos once I get the new top on in a couple of weeks!

Oh, also, someone asked, interior is Boxster Red.

Yay! My choice won out.

You should have gone with the glass window though. I only get into my top engine area once a freakin' year compared to the hundreds of times I have to get out and chop that stupid plastic window in half with my hand and keep it clean so it doesn't get scratched.

I'm going for the glass window when I do mine. I just gotta find a grand that my wife doesn't have dibs on for one thing or another to pay for it! :ah:

Great choice in color ,if it's not too late get glass.
