My brake got stuck?

On Wednesday morning I started the Boxster solely for the purpose of washing the car. All I did was back it up to a shaded spot on the driveway, and gave it a good wash. As soon as I dryed it I pulled it back into the garage, where it sat unused until this evening (4 days later). I started it, released the parking brake, shifted into reverse and tried to back up. There was resistance, and a horrible noise. I stopped, took it out of gear, then back into reverse and tried again. Once again, resistance and a horrible noise. This time I kept going and, after a loud "thunk" everything seemed to free up. I drove for about 30 minutes or so and everything seems to be just fine. Any idea what this could be and should I worry about it?

Many thanks for the help!

that should always happen, brakes are very oxidized after contact with water, when you backed up you just broke through the initial resistance of the rust

ok. Thank you for the quick response. Much appreciated.

REally? that's the oddest thing I've ever heard. Is it a common Boxster issue?

I just washed my car this weekend, spent a bunch of time on it. The rotors rusted over pretty good but when I moved the car nothing unusual happened.

Happens on the 911 too. Lexus sc400 ditto!

Happens on all my cars,

Lexus IS-300, Acura MDX, BMW 530

Maybe I just never have had the problem here in Sunny California. :p

Yeap, this happens to me all the time. Wash, back in garage and then the sound when I back out of the garage a day later.
