Cam chain work

With the transmission out and engine still in the car can one properly perform work on: cam chain; vario cam pads; tensioner pads and paddles

Im unfamiliar with the clearance needed for special tools etc

from my understanding, yes but it's not fun.

"All of the tasks illustrated here should be able to be performed on the engine while still installed in the car, although clearance is tight and it's somewhat difficult to work under the car."

grab wayne dempsey's book 101 projects for your porsche boxster, it's a great resource (finally got around to buying mine on sunday @ barnes & noble). most of the info can be found online though so if you just want the details - http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/Boxster_Tech/16-ENGINE-Camshaft_Swap_and_Chain_Tensioner/16-ENGINE-Camshaft_Swap_and_Chain_Tensioner.htm
