Windows won't go up/dwon

'03 Boxster: windows inoperative with center switches and when top is brought down/up. Curiously, they still lower/raise when doors are opened/closed. I also get the double-beep when locking the system. Doors do not lock.

I've read the manual about an alarm fault that requires a dealer visit. Before I pay them for an hour of garage time, I thought someone would have a suggestion for what I could try (or expect the tech to say). Thank you.

I'm having the exact same issue, but can't find anything that relates exactly to the problem. Any ideas/links?

If you're getting the double beep it means something is open/ajar/not connected and isn't allowing the system to arm. For example, I recently installed a double din stereo and forgot to unplug the stock radio chassis ground. It wouldnt let me arm the alarm until I unplugged it, after that all is well. Did you change something recently?
