Headlamps wont click in
Hey All,
Sorry to be a pain, I was changing my headlights today and now I cant get them to click back in, Like i can the headligts into the wings, but when i turn the bolt inside the boot to click them into place so they wont fall out, it doesnt seem to click them into place, i can still pull them out. Am i missing something? ive checked the actuator is forward and flat when i put it back in, but when i turn it to lock it back in, it clicks but doesnt lock (i can still remove it with my hands??! Anyone got any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks heaps! ** doesnt work on the drivers or passenger side |
Sorry just an update. Im 90% sure this user error, i still cant get them to click.in, but the hex key can still move the light in and out, just wont click the damn thing in, anyone else have this issue?

did you check to make sure the "hook" on the bottom of the assembly has not broken off? also make sure you are putting them so that the nubs on the bottom/side of the assembly are in the sliding track that holds the assembly down.

The hooks are there and all the tabs are running in theor grooves, confusing the hell out of me

Thats doesnt make any sense.

just a quick note, if i am remembering correctly... to remove, you turn the wrench forward, towards the front of the car. the suggestion is to leave it in place and let it "fall" back down. however, i never do. when i insert the headlamp assembly, the groove that catches the hook is not flush with the assembly holder, but slightly up (again i may be doing it wrong) and once the headlight is slid most of the way back in (90% maybe?) i put the wrench back in, push the headlight and can see the wrench start to turn, then turn the wrench in the opposite direction - so that it points towards the rear of the car. there is a very loud POP and the headlight is locked in place. |
I just installed HID headlights and realized today both of my headlights werent LOCKED into place too. they were in but the lights were flickering due to a loose connection since the lights werent seated. All I did was use the little torque/wrench and turned it while pushing on the headlight and you should hear is SNAP into place. you can pull at the bottom of the headlight housing to confirm theyre in tight

Hey guys,
I still cant get them in, all 3 guides are in their tabs, the hooks on the bottom of the lights are there, the light pushes in and is it does it rotates the locking tool, i push the tool towards the back of the car, it makes a click noise but it doesnt lock in place. Tried it a 100 times and it just wont work, so im taping up the lights and taking it to the dealership next week, i thnk im giving up :( |
FIXED!!!!!
Turns out the light removal tool was stripped. Also it turn out that the cheap 5mm aocket in my cheap socket set was stripped.... Went out bought a new set, clicked in first time. Cheers for the help |

I had a little trouble initially trying to figure out how to make sure the headlights were properly locked in when I had to replace the low beams after one burnt out, but thankfully it was fairly easy to figure out and realizing that the loud pop was a good thing, which is usually not the case. Now at some point I may actually go about using the tools to align them properly, but they're good enough for now. |
