Double Din Install Advice

Just bought an Avic z130bt and the install kit from euro motorspeed. I have the factory 220 radio and useless cup holders above.

I'm pretty handy but found a really reputable company to install everything for around $100.00 (headunit, bt mic installed by the A pillar, and av cable run to the center console).

Should I attempt it myself, or is it worth the $100? The only thing that scares me is the bt mic install...

How easy is it to install the whole system?

Thanks!

Pretty easy, did the install myself in an afternoon.

The easy part was the Mic install, I myself tried the A pillar spot but it receives too much wind noise in that spot and ended up placing right side of the fuel gauge.

install is easy but hell, for $100, I'd hand them the keys and go grab a coffee around the corner... assuming as you said, they are reputable and know these cars.

+1 on that
$100 that's about an hourly wage of $25

Thanks! I figured for $100 it's worth it. They've been in business forever and have done several Boxsters...

Do you guys have pics of where you installed the mic? I'd like to show them...

Thanks!!!

I look forward to hearing how things turn out as I am planning on buying the same unit for my 2001 S. I want to get all the option (satellite radio, back up camera). Are you buying the bezel kit from Euro Motorspeed)? The mods I have seen using this kit turned out great. Where are you getting the wiring harness?

Good luck, Curly

Curly,

I got the HU and iPhone cable (51V) from Amazon, and the Euro Motorspeed Double Din Kit (which includes the harness). I'm also ordering the rear speaker upgrade from Harvey (ebay). Everything's getting installed later this week - I'll let you know and upload some pics once it's done...

Can't wait! Christmas in April!!

Rick
