Oil Leak from spark plugs
I have a 2000 Boxster S I recently did my oil change and while I was under the car I noticed oil seeping from the spark plugs on the drivers side. I decided to look at the passenger side and noticed it was also leaking from that side to. it seems like they all have a very little leak. There is no dripping yet but I want to get this fixed. Is itpossible that all the rings or tubes would leak? What are the chances that all the spark plug sealss failed. I just bought the car a year ago and it only has 47000 miles so I imagine the plugs are still the original ones.
If anyone could help me out on what steps i should take to find the problem it would be appreciated. |

Leak from spark plugs
I had the same problem. The parts needed were 6 spark plug tubes, $60.00, 6 small end o-rings, $18.00, 6 large end o-rings, $24.00, and Porsche silicone grease, $42.00. I had and independent Porsche mechanic do the work for $200.00.

Don't bother with the silicone. Use a bit of engine oil. If you DO decide to use it, get the Porsche stuff. The normal kind can foul your o2 sensors.

If you aren't in a hurry to do it just clean up below them and monitor for a little while. You could also pull a few plugs (it's really easy) and see if the leak is on the inside of the tube and how much. My 2000 'S' had 53k miles on it when I got it, plugs had been changed once, I changed them for the heck of it and noticed a very light oozing on the engine which I just cleaned up and have monitored...never was enough it appears to drip. Only one plug had three drops of oil on the inside. I'll change the tubes eventually, but right now the oozing is so very very little and only on a couple since I changed them 1500 miles ago.

Tubes
I understand that it is probably the seals on the tubes that have failed. Should I only change the seals if the tubes look ok? Also I am in Canada can someone suggest a good site to order the stuff from online.

Get the tubes too; they tend to get destroyed when you remove them.
