flashing temperature gauge
Just joined and happy with what I read. Got a 1998 Boxster and very happy with it. Just took it out from storage and my temp gauge flashes. Level is OK..any others had this problem?

Maybe just add a little more, just a little. |
Thanks I will add a little more. Temp always stays at about 185 so I don't think it will overheat. I read somewhere about a a new rad cap. Someone else said a leaky container. Any takers.

My '98 does the same thing when cold weather hits. As keithl said, add very, very small amounts until you don't get the flashing light. If I get the flash when I start out sometimes I'll drive until the temp goes up a bit, stop, shut off the car, and restart. The flashing light goes away.

I had almost the EXACT same problem yesterday. It is all explained here
http://986forum.com/forums/boxster-general-discussions/28447-aos-replaced-now-coolant-leak.html?highlight=AOS I found the new coolant cap with the part number ending in .04 that I ordered over a year ago and put it on. I don't think that that is going to fix my problem because I have coolant all over my driveway. Most likely going to be the whole coolant tank for me. I will know for sure when I have time to peel back the carpet in the daylight. I hope your solution is easier than mine. |
I sure hate the design of the cooling system on this car. It goes back to that thread about over-engineering.

Thank you very much. I will try anything not to see that light flash
