Replacement boot (trunk) lid

When I bought my Boxster S there was a noticable dent on the boot lid. I went along to 'chips away' who advised it would cost 100 pounds to fill and respray the lid. I found a breaking boxster with a good lid for fifty pounds which cleaned up well and was a good match. It had no badge and the one on my lid was a bit scruffy so I bought a new 'boxster' and 's' badge from dealer and fitted. It looks great but the lid sits a little proud. I wish I'd checked how the original lid looked before taking it off. It might just be my imagination. I tried moving the striker plate up and down, left and right but makes little difference. I found that in some positions the lid refused to pop up and it took a great deal of persuasion to open.

Any one had any experience of replacing panels like this. I'm reluctant to put the old lid back on to check but I suppose that's the only way to be sure. Might have to get dent repaired on original lid sometime.
